Can I appeal my exam results?

Answer

Yes, you can request a recheck or review of your exam results.

Recheck Process

A recheck is a verification process to ensure that:

  • Your candidate number was correctly assigned.
  • All sections of your exam were marked.
  • Marks were accurately recorded and combined for the final result.

How to request a recheck: Submit a recheck application form within 5 days of your exam results being ratified. Pay a €45 fee (refundable if your grade is revised upward). Rechecks do not involve remarking the exam, only verifying accuracy.

Review Process (applies to written exams only)

A review involves a detailed reconsideration of your exam by an examiner.

How to request a review:You must submit a detailed written request explaining why you believe a review is necessary. Reviews are only considered under specific grounds:

  • Errors in applying exam regulations.
  • Administrative errors affecting your result.
  • Medical or extenuating circumstances not considered before grading.
  • Significant marking inconsistencies.

A € 75 fee applies (refundable if your grade improves). Requests must be submitted within 5 working days of result ratification.

Appeals Process

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of a review, you can appeal under the Academic Regulations of ATU.

Appeals must be based on valid grounds such as procedural errors or overlooked extenuating circumstances. Further details and procedures can be found in the exam regulations.
