How can I reinstate my designation?
Answer
To reinstate your designation, you must submit a reinstatement request to LIA in writing. The process varies based on how long you have been out of the CPD scheme:
- Less than 4 years: You must address any CPD shortfall, including current year requirements, and pay any applicable backdated fees. Alternatively, you may complete the QFA Regulation module and exam, which waives the reinstatement fee requirement.
- 5 to 9 years: You need to pass the QFA Regulation or QFA Financial Advice module and exam (no reinstatement or backdated fees required).
- 10 years or more: You must complete all six QFA modules and examinations (no reinstatement or backdated fees required).
Similar rules apply for other designations, such as APA, CUA, CUC, CUG, and PTP, with specific reinstatement requirements depending on the length of time out of the scheme. For further details and to begin the reinstatement process, you should contact LIA’s Member Services team at cpd@lia.ie
