How many hours do I need to complete by the 31st December?

Answer

The number of CPD hours you need to complete by 31st December depends on your designation and whether or not you are newly qualified.

For Existing Designation Holders:

If you already hold a designation such as QFA, APA, or CUA, you must complete 15 CPD hours during the CPD year. This includes:

  • At least 1 hour of Ethics CPD

  • At least 1 hour in each product category relevant to your designation(s)

Exceptions

If you hold only one of the following designations, you are required to complete 6 CPD hours per year:

  • Credit Union Governance (CUG)

  • Credit Union Compliance (CUC)

  • Pension Trustee Practitioner (PTP)

For newly qualified members

If you obtained a designation during the CPD year, your CPD requirement depends on when you qualified:

  • Qualified between January and July
You must complete 4 CPD hours by 31 December of that year.

  • Qualified between August and December
No CPD hours are required for that year. Your full CPD requirement begins in the following year.

For members who newly qualify with a CUG, CUC, or PTP designation, the requirement is 3 CPD hours if you qualified before July.

Important deadlines

  • All required CPD hours must be completed by 31 December.

  • Your Annual CPD Return must be submitted by 31 January of the following year.

Example:
For the 2025 CPD year, all required CPD hours must be completed (and logged to your CPD log, where required) by 31 December 2025. Your Annual CPD Return must be submitted by 31 January 2026.
