I have an IOB/III reference code, can you provide the LIA code?

Answer:

LIA does not automatically provide a corresponding code for events accredited by the Institute of Banking (IOB) or the Insurance Institute of Ireland (III), even if the event is CPD-eligible.

However, you can take the following steps:

Check if the Event is Cross-Accredited

Some events may be jointly accredited by LIA, IOB, or III. In this case, the LIA code is usually provided by the event organiser. You should:

  • Review the event certificate or confirmation email
  • Contact the event organiser or provider directly to request the LIA code, if it exists

Manually Add the CPD to Your LIA Record

If the event is only accredited by IOB or III, you can still claim the hours with LIA by:

  • Logging the event manually in your LIA CPD record
  • Using your IOB/III reference code as the supporting documentation
  • Ensuring the content aligns with your LIA designation(s) and MCC category requirements

Make sure to retain your certificate or attendance record, in case you are selected for audit.

Contact LIA for Assistance

If you're unsure whether the event is recognised by LIA or if you need help with logging the hours, you can email the CPD team at:

📩 cpd@lia.ie

Include:

  • The IOB/III reference code
  • Event name and date
  • CPD hours awarded
  • Categories covered (if known)

They can confirm whether an LIA code exists or guide you on how to proceed.
