I'm QFA'd and it says my membership is lapsed, why?

Answer

If your QFA membership is showing as lapsed, it could be due to one of the following reasons:

  1. Failure to complete CPD requirements – If you did not complete the required 15 CPD hours, including category-specific and ethics hours, your designation may have lapsed.
  2. Non-submission of your Annual Return – If you did not submit your CPD Annual Return by 31st January, your membership status may have been affected.
  3. Non-payment of membership fees – If you did not renew your LIA membership or pay the required fees, your status may have lapsed.
  4. Failure to reinstate after suspension – If your designation was suspended due to multiple CPD shortfalls, you may need to apply for reinstatement.

What You Can Do:

  • Check your CPD record to see if there are any shortfalls.
  • Contact LIA Member Services to clarify your status and the steps needed for reinstatement.
  • If your designation has lapsed for less than 4 years, you may need to complete any outstanding CPD hours and pay any outstanding fees.
  • If your designation has lapsed for 5+ years, you may be required to resit QFA exams to regain your status.
It’s best to act quickly to avoid further delays in reinstating your QFA designation.
