How to Log and Manage CPD Hours

You can record CPD hours by logging into your LIA Member Account, navigating to your CPD Log, and entering the LIA accreditation number for the event.
Once entered, click Add and Save your entry to update your CPD record.

How do I record a CPD event on my CPD log?

If you attend an external event that has an LIA accreditation number (e.g. LIAXXXXX_202X), it has already been approved by LIA for CPD and can be added to your CPD record.

To record a CPD event:

  1. Log in to your LIA Member Account
  2. Navigate to your CPD Log
  3. Enter the LIA accreditation number in the relevant field
  4. Click Add
  5. Click Save before leaving the page

Your CPD hours should then appear on your CPD log.

What if the event has an IOB or Insurance Institute code?

If the event was accredited by IOB or The Insurance Institute, their accreditation codes will not work in the LIA CPD system.

Instead, you should:

  1. Email the accreditation code to cpd@lia.ie
  2. LIA will provide the equivalent LIA accreditation code
  3. You can then log this code in your CPD record.

What if the event does not have an accreditation number?

If an event does not have an accreditation number:

  • Contact the event organiser or speaker
  • They may be able to apply to LIA for CPD accreditation

Once approved, you will receive an LIA accreditation code which can be added to your CPD log.

Why hasn’t my CPD log updated after entering a code?

If you have entered an event code but your CPD log has not updated, there may be several possible reasons.

Incorrect Event Code

  • Check that the code has been entered exactly as provided, including letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Even a small typo may prevent the system from recognising the code.

Event Not Yet Processed

Occasionally there may be a short delay before the CPD event appears in your log.

Most events completed through LIA Elevate update automatically, but external events may take slightly longer.

Manual Entry Required

If the event was not hosted directly by LIA (for example, an employer training session or external event), you may need to log it manually.

When logging external CPD, ensure you include:

  • the correct event code
  • the number of CPD hours
  • the relevant CPD categories
  • the date the event was completed

Event Not Valid for the Current CPD Year

Event codes must be valid for the current CPD year.

If the code is from a previous CPD year or an event not accredited for the current year, the system will not accept it.

Event Not Relevant to Your Designation

If an asterisk (*) appears beside a code, this means the event is not relevant to your designation.

In this case, the event will not count toward your CPD requirement.

Technical Issue

If you have checked all of the above and your CPD log still has not updated, there may be a temporary technical issue.

How do I remove a CPD hour from my log?

If you need to remove a CPD code from your CPD log:

  1. Log in to your LIA Member Account
  2. Navigate to your CPD Log
  3. Click the Remove tab beside the code you want to delete.
  4. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
