What is a category requirement?

Answer

A category requirement refers to the obligation for LIA members to complete a minimum number of CPD hours in specific product categories relevant to their designation(s).

For example, if you hold a QFA designation, you must complete at least 1 CPD hour in each of the five product categories:

  • Life Assurance
  • Pensions
  • Savings & Investments
  • Housing Loans, Home Reversion, etc.
  • Consumer Credit & Associated Insurance

Similarly, if you hold an APA, CUA, or other designation, your category requirements will depend on the areas covered by your qualification.

In addition to the category-specific hours, all members must also complete at least 1 CPD hour in Ethics each year.
